Around 2,000 participants gathered in Tuguegarao City for the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADAIT) 2026 Color Fun Run Season 2, turning the observance of this year’s IDADAIT into a vibrant expression of solidarity and shared responsibility.
The 10-kilometer route stretched from the Cagayan State University Carig Campus to the Cagayan Provincial Capitol Grounds, where government agencies, local government units, law enforcement organizations, academic institutions, civil society organizations, and community partners gathered to show how partnerships across sectors continue to strengthen community-based drug abuse prevention initiatives. The event was organized through the collaborative efforts of the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB), the Department of Health Drug Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (DOH-TRC) Region II, the Provincial Government of Cagayan, the City Government of Tuguegarao, and other partner institutions.
A key feature of the opening program was the ceremonial turnover of financial assistance from the DDB, represented by Permanent Member – Undersecretary Armando Ramolete, to the Department of Health Drug Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (DOH-TRC) Region II. The assistance recognized that treatment and rehabilitation stand alongside prevention as essential components of the country’s response to the drug problem, placing equal importance on helping individuals recover and reintegrate into their families and communities.
The ceremony also included a Pledge of Commitment by partner agencies and organizations before runners took to the course. Color stations lined the route as participants made their way to the Capitol Grounds, where the celebration continued with a community Zumba session, an awarding ceremony, and an after-party concert.
Observed globally every 26 June, IDADAIT calls attention to the continuing need for holistic, balanced, and coordinated responses to the world drug problem. Held under this year’s IDADAIT theme, “World Drug Problem: Persisting Issues, New Challenges, Innovative Responses,” the Color Fun Run demonstrated how community activities can encourage healthy lifestyles, strengthen social connections, and create positive spaces that support drug abuse prevention.
