Raising a child in a safe and healthy environment is not solely a responsibility made for families; it is a collective duty for the community and the government in shaping their future. This advocacy was the core discussion of the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) Congress during the celebration of the 2025 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
The Dangerous Drugs Board, in collaboration with the City Government of Antipolo, organized the forum focused on the Strong Families Programme initiated and developed by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The programme supports caregivers and children living in a challenging environment to deal with difficulties and daily stresses. Its main component is to strengthen the family structure and functions, serving as a preventive measure against drug use, violence, and other negative social consequences affecting their children.
DDB Permanent Member – Undersecretary Armando Ramolete, joined the discussions and reaffirmed the DDB’s continued support for evidence-based, family-centered initiatives that promote resilience and well-being among Filipino families.
Through continued collaboration and proactive initiatives like the Strong Families Programme, these collective efforts pave the way for a safer, healthier, and more resilient environment where children can thrive and reach their full potential. Together, we can build a future anchored on strong family values and a steadfast commitment to nurturing the well-being of every child.
