The Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) successfully had their budgets deliberated and approved, with Honorable Representative Marcelino Teodoro of the First District of Marikina presenting the Agencies’ respective budget proposals before the House of Representatives plenary. This step of the budget process not only affirms legislative support but also ensures continuity of an anti-drug campaign that balances policy direction with enforcement in Fiscal Year 2026.
The deliberations highlighted four major joint priorities centered on (1) Sustaining drug demand reduction programs by scaling up prevention education and rehabilitation with greater focus on community-based treatment and reintegration of persons who use drugs; (2) Modernizing enforcement capacity by equipping law enforcement agents with the advanced technology, specialized training, and intelligence tools necessary to counter increasingly sophisticated drug syndicates; (3) Deepening inter-agency and local government unit partnerships to reinforce the whole-of-government and whole-of-nation approach that places equal premium on prevention and rehabilitation alongside enforcement; and (4) Strengthening international cooperation to address the transnational drug trafficking, while aligning initiatives with treaty obligations and global best practices.
During the interpolation, House Deputy Minority Leader and Mamamayang Liberal Partylist Representative Leila Delima recognized and commended the Agencies’ consistent contributions to drug abuse prevention and control. She underscored the importance of the recent operational successes and recognized the need to sustain these gains through adequate resources and continuing support.
By working hand in hand—one shaping direction and the other driving implementation—DDB and PDEA continue to guarantee that the Philippines’ anti-illegal drugs campaign remains responsive to evolving challenges while upholding its responsibility to protect lives, restore communities, and secure a safer and healthier nation.
