The Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) successfully hosted the Inter-Agency Workshop on the Comprehensive Review of Existing Policies Concerning Drug Testing, Confirmatory Testing, and Proficiency Testing. The purpose of the workshop was to evaluate and update policies in line with Republic Act 9165, focusing on the scope, fees, and standards for Drug Testing Laboratories (DTLs).
The Technical Working Group (TWG), comprising experts from the National Reference Laboratory (NRL), Department of Health (DOH), and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), collaborated with the DDB to assess both the technical and legal aspects of the existing relevant policies.
Key outcomes of the workshop included recommendations for amending relevant Board Regulations, policy proposals for drug testing fees, and the expansion of drug testing to cover a broader range of substances using multi-panel kits. These efforts aim to enhance the reliability and adaptability of drug testing services, ensuring they meet evolving public health and safety needs.
