The Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB), represented by Deputy Executive Director for Operations – Assistant Secretary Ferdaussi Masnar, joined the Self Enhancement for Life Foundation, Inc. (SELF) in the formal inauguration of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel and the Family Association Meeting (FAM) Lecture Hall.
In his message, Assistant Secretary Masnar emphasized that recovery extends beyond treatment, noting that lasting healing is made possible through the shared efforts of institutions, communities, families, and individuals. The newly inaugurated facilities will provide dedicated venues for Family Association Meetings and training programs anchored on the Therapeutic Community approach, creating opportunities for families and practitioners to strengthen partnerships while expanding the support available to persons in recovery and their loved ones.
The event also served as the opening of the Federation of Therapeutic Communities in Asia (FTCA) Symposium on Families, where practitioners, treatment providers, family advocates, and recovery champions from across Asia shared experiences and good practices on empowering families within therapeutic communities. The exchange of perspectives highlighted how families can become active partners in helping sustain the recovery journey and support successful reintegration.
The inauguration and symposium reflected SELF’s enduring mission of “Rekindling Hope, Rebuilding Lives,” built on more than three decades of implementing therapeutic community-based programs that promote personal transformation, strengthen family participation, and foster community support.
By creating spaces where families, treatment providers, and community partners can connect and learn from one another, initiatives such as these help create a stronger network of support for individuals working toward lasting recovery and successful reintegration.
