With the recent illegal drug trade incidents in the coastal areas of the Philippines, the Dangerous Drugs Board convened for an interagency meeting to address pressing concerns related to illegal drug supply reduction across the airport, land, and maritime entry points.
The meeting gathered key officials from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Philippine National Police (PNP), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and Bureau of Customs (BOC) to align strategic countermeasures and establish a unified approach to strengthening border control, dismantling trafficking networks, and intercepting supply routes used for drug smuggling and trades.
The discussion led to pivotal agreements focusing on empowering local government units, enhancing policy development, and strengthening monitoring and reporting mechanisms to curb illegal drug trafficking.
This coordinated response reflects the government’s firm resolve to protect national borders and uphold security. Strengthened collaboration and clear operational direction are key in advancing sustainable drug supply reduction efforts.
