Convened for its 204th Regular Meeting, the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) advanced key policy measures to strengthen the national response to the drug problem, prioritizing strategic approaches, enhanced inter-agency coordination, and greater community-level impact.
One of the key outcomes was the approval of amendments to Board Regulation No. 2, Series of 2020, which governs drug-clearing operations in facilities for persons deprived of liberty. Revised with the guidance of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), the updated regulation promotes consistency, inclusivity, and accountability in custodial settings, grounded in operational realities.
Further affirming its commitment to demand reduction, the Board approved the creation of a Technical Working Group (TWG) on Drug Abuse Prevention Education. Following consultations with member agencies under the Drug Demand Reduction Committee, the TWG will update learning modules, training materials, and school-based interventions to ensure their continued relevance, scientific rigor, and responsiveness to emerging challenges.
To support international cooperation and intelligence coordination, the Board likewise endorsed the formation of a TWG for the deployment of drug enforcement attachés. Additionally, it approved the inclusion of new institutional members in the Drug Demand Reduction Committee, further broadening its reach and multisectoral representation.
The meeting also highlighted the 2025 observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADAIT), which showcased the role of creative expression and community engagement in advancing prevention. In line with this, the Board adopted a resolution recognizing the winning entry of the 2025 IDADAIT Songwriting Contest and endorsing its use in official events and advocacy campaigns.
These collective efforts reflect the Board’s continued commitment to building safer, healthier communities through evidence-based, inclusive, and future-ready drug policy.
