Key implementers of the DSWD’s Special Drug Education Centers (SDEC) from Muntinlupa City, Mindoro, and Zamboanga engaged in a training focused on the Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) processes catered particularly for the at-risk populations.
As part of the Comprehensive Drug Abuse Prevention Education Program, SBIRT is a public health approach that addresses substance use at its earliest stages—an evidence-based early intervention which assess risk levels among children, adolescents, and adults in community health settings.
Dangerous Drugs Board Assistant Secretary Ferdaussi Masnar brought invaluable insights to the program by sharing his expertise on the legal procedures affecting persons who use drugs, out-of-school youths, and children living in street situations catered under SDEC.
The DDB, in an effort to empower communities, continues to take on the proactive and compassionate approach to drug abuse prevention while nurturing collaboration among local stakeholders and providing education and support programs to treatment and rehabilitation.
