As part of the government’s continuing efforts to expand access to voluntary drug treatment and rehabilitation, the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) organized an orientation seminar for officers of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)–Regional Public Assistance Desk (RPAD), encouraging them to serve as Authorized Representatives of the Board.
This initiative is grounded in Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and further supported by DDB Regulation No. 3, Series of 2007, which empowers qualified government officers to assist persons who use drugs (PWUDs) in the admission process to Department of Health (DOH)-accredited treatment and rehabilitation facilities.
Becoming a DDB Authorized Representative means taking an active role in ensuring that individuals who voluntarily seek help receive timely and appropriate support. Responsibilities include receiving verified applications, filing petitions before the court, and representing the Board during legal proceedings.
Through this engagement, the DDB not only informs but also inspires eligible officers to take on this crucial role in promoting compassionate, accessible, and community-based rehabilitation.
