Naga City is advancing a local model that brings prevention and recovery together through a single initiative. The Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) turned over ₱5 million in financial assistance to the City Government of Naga for the establishment of its proposed Community-Based Drug Rehabilitation Facility (CBDRF) and Drug Abuse Prevention Education and Advocacy (DAPE) Youth Hub.
The financial assistance was formally turned over by DDB Executive Director – Undersecretary Earl Saavedra and received by Mayor Maria Leonor “Leni” G. Robredo during the City’s regular Monday Flag Ceremony. Following the ceremony, Undersecretary Saavedra met with Mayor Robredo to discuss the proposed utilization of the assistance, including the facilities’ role in supporting the City’s broader anti-illegal drug agenda and opportunities for continued collaboration in their implementation and future operation.
Designed to function as complementary facilities, the CBDRF and DAPE Youth Hub will enable the City to respond across the continuum of drug demand reduction. While the rehabilitation facility will serve as the primary venue for implementing community-based treatment and rehabilitation services and supporting aftercare and reintegration interventions, the Youth Hub will serve as a center for preventive education, life skills development, and youth-focused initiatives that promote healthy and informed choices.
This initiative will broaden the City’s local response on drug prevention and control in a more coordinated manner, enabling interventions to reach individuals, families, and communities at different stages of need.
