The observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADAIT) 2026 in Tuguegarao City also underscored another important dimension of the country’s response to the drug problem, the continued expansion of treatment and rehabilitation services.
As part of the opening program for the IDADAIT 2026 Color Fun Run Season 2, the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB), through Permanent Member – Undersecretary Armando Ramolete, formally turned over financial assistance amounting to ₱ 5 million to the Department of Health Drug Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (DOH-TRC) Region II for the Phase II construction of a two-storey Medical Records and Wellness Center Building at the DOH-TRC in Isabela. The assistance affirms the government’s commitment to ensuring that treatment and rehabilitation remain accessible components of the national response alongside sustained prevention efforts.
In his message, Undersecretary Ramolete emphasized that an effective drug policy must address the full continuum of care, from preventing drug use before it begins to providing treatment and supporting recovery, helping individuals rebuild their lives and successfully reintegrate into society. He noted that these are complementary responsibilities that together shape a balanced, compassionate, and evidence-informed national approach to drug abuse prevention and control.
The turnover formed part of the day’s IDADAIT observance, which brought together government institutions, local governments, law enforcement agencies, academic institutions, civil society organizations, and community partners in promoting healthier, safer, and more resilient communities.
