Bringing forward substantive discussions on drug abuse prevention, mental health, and the legal framework governing substance use, the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) facilitated the Drug Abuse Prevention Education (DAPE) Caravan at Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) – Laoag Campus in Ilocos Norte.
Structured to move beyond conventional information dissemination, the engagement fostered active student participation through guided dialogue and an open exchange of perspectives. DDB resource persons underscored the health, social, and legal consequences of drug involvement while emphasizing the importance of resilience, informed judgment, and responsible decision-making within the academic environment.
The open forum enabled students to articulate concerns, seek clarification, and reflect on real-world pressures that influence youth behavior. This exchange reinforced the value of preventive education grounded in awareness and accountability, demonstrating that meaningful prevention begins with understanding.
Through the Laoag engagement, the DDB reaffirmed its commitment to advancing youth-centered prevention initiatives pursuant to its mandate under Republic Act No. 9165. By strengthening partnerships with institutions of learning, the Board continues to cultivate informed, responsible, and community-oriented young individuals who contribute to safer and healthier environments.
