The Dangerous Drugs Board supports women empowerment and gender sensitivity through providing Gender and Development (GAD) Training to its employees. It also adopted the principles of GAD in its system. A Technical Working Group (TWG) for GAD was established to facilitate gender mainstreaming.
The TWG is tasked to aid the Human Resource Section in the development and implementation of the agency’s programs on women empowerment and gender equality.

DDB holds Seminar-Workshop in Genderizing IEC Materials on Drug Prevention
17 local government units in Metro Manila gathered to join the three-day Seminar-Workshop of the Dangerous Drugs Board on Genderizing Information, Education, Communication (IEC) Materials on Drug Prevention.
The seminar is designed to review and genderize their existing IEC materials and come up with fresh ideas for new IEC materials.
Genderizing it encourages Local Government Units to produce gender-responsive and gender-sensitive publications which form part of the 2024 Gender and Development Plans and Programs of the DDB.
Dr. Ferdinand Gonzales, from the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW), served as the lead resource speaker of the training. Deputy Executive Director for Operations, Assistant Secretary Maria Belen Angelita Matibag delivered a message to formally start the program.
DDB leads 3-day Training on Mainstreaming Gender in Data Analysis and Writeshop on Integrating Gender Lens in Program and Project Proposal
The Policy Studies, Research, and Statistics Division of the Dangerous Drugs Board leads the three-day training on Mainstreaming Gender in Data Analysis and Writeshop on Integrating Gender Lens in Program and Project Proposal. This capacitates the personnel of DDB in integrating the Gender and Development (GAD) perspective through Gender Analysis in developing gender-responsive policies and programs to redress inequities and inequalities.
Mr. Ferdinand Gonzales, Ph.D., Executive Director of the People’s Organization for Social Transformation (POST) and certified PCW GAD trainer, served as the resource speaker for the activity.
Deputy Executive Director for Operations and Chairperson of DDB’s Gender Focal Point System (DDB-GFPS), Assistant Secretary Maria Belen Angelita V. Matibag oversees and assesses the output of the activity.
Seminar on the Integration of Gender and Development (GAD) Concepts to the Existing Drug-Related Programs of the DDB
On May 23-24, the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) conducted a seminar focusing on the Integration of Gender Development (GAD) Concepts to the Existing Drug-Related Programs of the DDB at Ciudad Christhia Resort, San Mateo, Rizal. Participants who attended in the seminar were from different Divisions and Units of the Dangerous Drugs Board. During the activity, attendees expressed their opinions, shared thoughts and suggestions regarding Gender Mainstreaming and GAD’s integration in the development of programs and project proposals.
The Resource Speaker invited to facilitate the discussion was Professor Ferdinand P. Gonzales, PhD. He is a certified member of the National GAD Resource Pool of the Philippine Commission on Women. Professor Gonzales discussed about topics on Gender Responsive Communication, Integrating Gender Lens in Project Proposal for GAD Fund Attribution, Orientation on GAD Planning and Budgeting, Orienatation on HDCG and GA GM. Included in the discussion was a structured process of brainstorming and information exchange in making project proposals from each division/units of the Dangerous Drugs Board with the integration of gender and development aspect in their respective program.
DDB collaborates with PCW in holding GMEF Orientation
The 1-day Gender Mainstreaming Evaluation Framework (GMEF) Refresher Orientation was held last 30 March 2021 virtually, via Zoom platform hosted by the Philippine Commission for Women-Sectoral Coordination (PCW-SCD), attended by various government agencies.
Three (3) DDB GAD GFPS members attended this orientation, namely, Ms. Rebecca F. Arambulo, OIC-PSRSD, Ms. Corazon P. Mamigo, Statistician III, and Ms. Ma. Corazon A. Ramarama, Planning Officer III. The objectives of which is to familiarize GFPS members of agencies on the objectives, benefits and actual application process of the GMEF tool.
The agencies were given pointers in the application of GMEF before, during and after GMEF assessment; during and after GMEF validation. They were also taught how to translate gaps identified in the GMEF as gender issues that can be addressed in the GAD Plans and Budgets and GAD Agenda.
The assigned PCW-SCD Officer for the DDB is Mr. Amerson Aguinaldo, where submission of DDBs GMEF Assessment Results and Validation of Ratings, as well as technical assistance could be referred to.
Members of the TWG also attended a Training on the Formulation of DDB GAD Agenda for CY 2021-2025 held at Privato Hotel on 30 January – 1 February 2020.
