On 19 January 2024, the Dangerous Drugs Board approved the referral of certain regulatory control responsibilities to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency. This means that frontline services which were handled by DDB such as the Issuance of Certificate for Non-Controlled Products (Certification) and Certificate of Exemption for finished products/preparations/chemical mixtures containing dangerous drugs and/or controlled chemicals (Exemption) will now be handled by the PDEA as the Board’s implementing arm and in compliance to the provisions of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

In the process of the transition, the Online Application for Certification Information System (OACEIS) and the Dangerous Drugs and Controlled Precursors and Essential Chemicals Monitoring System (DDCPEC-MS) will also be turned over to PDEA as the new System Administrator and Primary End-User.

To mark this significant development and transition, Undersecretary-Executive Director Earl Saavedra and OIC Deputy Executive Director for Administration Ma. Victoria Sorne joined hands in resetting the server which houses the operating system of the abovementioned frontline services to signify the key changes that are bound to happen effective 1 March 2024. Among those who witnessed the server resetting are Management Information Systems Division Chief Joan Marie Sison and Conference Secretariat OIC Ella Marie Repomanta.
