Beyond the Livestream: Inside the Six Parallel Sessions of the DDB Saliksik 2026
While the morning and afternoon plenary sessions were streamed live, the conversations continued in between through six simultaneous parallel technical sessions that showcased the diversity of Philippine research on drug abuse prevention and control.
The Chemistry and Pharmacology session examined advances in forensic science, laboratory analysis, and emerging substances. The Addiction Medicine session explored evidence on treatment, rehabilitation, recovery, and clinical practice. The Preventive Education session highlighted research on building protective factors, strengthening prevention initiatives, and promoting healthy choices across communities and schools.
The Social Sciences session presented studies on the social, behavioral, and environmental dimensions of substance use, providing insights into the factors that influence prevention and recovery. The Public Safety and Public Security session discussed research supporting law enforcement, intelligence, criminal justice, and public safety strategies. Meanwhile, the Alternative Development session examined community-based and sustainable approaches that strengthen resilience and reduce vulnerabilities associated with illicit drug cultivation and related risks.
Across all six sessions, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and development partners exchanged knowledge, examined emerging evidence, and identified research priorities that can strengthen future policies, programs, and services. The discussions reinforced that addressing the country’s evolving drug situation requires multidisciplinary collaboration and research that translates into meaningful action.
