The Dangerous Drugs Board, represented by Jenhmarie Dawn T. Frias from the Preventive Education, Training, and Information Division, recently participated in the 2024 ISSUP Global Conference in Thessaloniki, Greece, as part of the Philippine delegation. Supported by the Office of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) of the US Embassy in Manila, this conference was titled ‘The Art of Healing: A New Era in Substance Use Prevention, Harm Reduction, Treatment and Recovery Support.’
Key highlights of the global conference include training on establishing a drug-free workplace, emphasizing employee assistance and family-friendly initiatives, and the launch of the Global Women’s Network for Treatment and Recovery, which aims to support women in substance use recovery. Plenary sessions focused on the crucial role of civil society in drug policy and featured discussions on the Oviedo Declaration and Rome Consensus 2.0. Additionally, experts shared best practices and innovative tools for improving the drug demand reduction workforce, including new assessment tools and digital mental health platforms.
