Following the coalition launch in July of this year, the Philippines was nominated as co-chair of the working group focusing on the discussion of issues on the promotion of public health interventions and services to prevent and reduce drug use, overdose, and other related harms. Sec. Cuy co-chairs the working group with Dr. Stephanie Williams, Ambassador for Regional Health Security Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Australia.
The working group composed of representatives from the government of more than 70 countries had its first meeting today to agree on three thematic areas that the working group will focus on. These are substance use prevention, treatment and recovery, and alternatives to incarceration.
