Dangerous Drugs Board Chairman – Secretary Oscar Valenzuela led the Stakeholders Consultative Meeting, bringing together partners across the country for a region-wide effort to harmonize government’s programs and strategies in improving the state of treatment and rehabilitation services in the Philippines.
To outline the groundwork, Secretary Valenzuela presented key insights on the current drug situation based on the 2023 National Household Survey on Patterns and Trends of Drug Abuse, noting that marijuana and shabu remains the most commonly used substances.
In an effort to build a more accessible and inclusive recovery journey, the DDB revisited previous policy discussion, concerning the possible implementation of web-based consultation services and the streamlining of documentary requirements to facilitate admission procedures.
The DDB remains committed to President Ferdinand Marcos’ guidance to put treatment, rehabilitation, prevention and education, after-care, and reintegration at the heart of our campaign against drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
