Undersecretary-Executive Director Earl Saavedra CESO I met with Brunei Ambassador to the Philippines (Her Excellency) Megawati Mana at the Embassy Office in Makati City. The discussions focused on the priority areas which the Philippines will pursue as it assumes the Chairmanship of the ASEAN Senior Officials on Drug Matters (ASOD) next year. The Dangerous Drugs Board, as the ASOD Focal Point, sought for the support of Brunei Darussalam in the finalization of the ASEAN Workplan in Securing Communities Against Illicit Drugs which will be the blueprint on drug abuse prevention and control in the region.

Brunei Darussalam has institutionalized many successful anti-drug initiatives in law enforcement, preventive education including treatment and rehabilitation which other ASEAN Member-States replicate for domestic implementation.
