The national observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADAIT) 2026 continued in Naga City as the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) joined the Department of Health–Camarines Sur Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (DOH-Cam Sur TRC) in staging The Good Runner Advocacy Run, where advocacy, wellness, and community participation came together in support of a common cause.
The activity drew participation from running enthusiasts, healthcare professionals, government personnel, partner organizations, families, friends, and members of the community, with many participants adding creativity to the occasion by joining in themed costumes, further contributing to the event’s vibrant atmosphere. Before participants set off on the 5-kilometer and 10-kilometer courses, the DDB led the Pledge of Commitment, inviting everyone to publicly reaffirm their role in advancing drug abuse prevention within their respective communities.
The advocacy continued beyond the finish line through a post-run program that recognized the individuals and institutions whose contributions helped make the event possible. Addressing the participants, DDB Executive Director – Undersecretary Earl Saavedra, who led the DDB delegation, emphasized that the day’s pledge should extend beyond the activity itself. He encouraged everyone to continue serving as advocates by promoting healthy choices, supporting one another, and helping build environments that discourage illegal drug use before it begins.
The morning concluded with the recognition of partner institutions, sponsors, and advocates whose contributions helped make the activity possible. Their support underscored the growing network of organizations and individuals helping carry the advocacy beyond government-led initiatives. By bringing the campaign into a setting where people could participate alongside their families, friends, colleagues, and communities, The Good Runner turned public participation into one of the strongest expressions of this year’s IDADAIT observance.
