Learning creates opportunities, but it also carries an expectation. The knowledge gained, perspectives shared, and approaches introduced throughout the three-day program become meaningful when they inform the work participants undertake after returning to their respective localities. This was the perspective conveyed by DDB Permanent Member – Undersecretary Abad Osit during the closing program of the Training of Trainers on Life Skills Enhancement in Drug Abuse Prevention Education in Cebu, as he encouraged participants to look beyond the completion of the program and toward the work that follows.
Recognizing the important role of Local Youth Development Officers as partners in preventive education, Undersecretary Osit challenged participants to measure the value of the training by the difference their work will make once they return to service. His message underscored that the impact of capacity-building is ultimately seen in how learning continues to influence local initiatives, strengthen engagement with young people, and guide the sustained practice of preventive education.
