The Summit aims to bring together different stakeholders from the government, civil society, academia, and development partners for an inclusive and collaborative discussion on drug policy and law reform that embodies the Philippine Government’s new approach to drugs.
Following President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s campaign direction against illegal drugs, the DDB’s proposed strategy is geared towards community-based treatment, rehabilitation, preventive education, reintegration, and aftercare. It ensures the whole-of-nation approach to address the country’s drug problem with an emphasis on the holistic and evidence-based implementation.
The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 mandates the DDB to be the policy-making and strategy-formulating body on drug abuse prevention and control. Since 2002, the DDB formulated, developed, and established a comprehensive, integrated, unified, and balanced national drug use prevention and control strategy.
