At the close of the DDB Saliksik 2026 National Research Conference on Drug Abuse Prevention and Control, DDB Chairperson - Secretary Oscar Valenzuela challenged everyone to carry the conversations beyond the conference hall.
His message looked beyond research as an academic exercise and toward research as a catalyst for meaningful action. He called for stronger evidence to guide policies and programs, deeper investments in prevention, greater collaboration across sectors, and a people-centered response that empowers individuals, families, and communities.
More than outlining the way forward, Secretary Valenzuela reminded participants that the true legacy of DDB Saliksik 2026 will not be measured by the presentations delivered or the discussions held, but by the policies improved, the programs strengthened, and the lives transformed through evidence-informed action.
As the conference concludes, the challenge continues—to generate knowledge, challenge assumptions, strengthen partnerships, and ensure that research remains at the heart of the country’s response to drug abuse prevention and control.
